James M. Plott
May 1, 1949 – June 16, 2025
James M. Plott of Covington, Virginia, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather, and man of unwavering faith, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 16, 2025, at the age of 76.
Born on May 1, 1949, in Alleghany County, Virginia, Jim was the son of the late James Paulmer and Rosetta Ford Plott.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Corp of Army Engineer from 1967 to 1974, with overseas deployments in Thailand and Okinawa, Japan.
A dedicated provider, Jim worked tirelessly to support his family. He cherished every moment spent with his daughters, whether it was outside shooting hoops, playing cards, fishing, or sitting around playing music.
Jim had a passion for classic cars and took great joy in attending car shows with his prized 1964 Comet Caliente, affectionately known as “Black Beauty.” His car show friends became like family to him.
Known for his warm spirit and open heart, Jim never met a stranger. He was always eager to share his faith and the message of the gospel with anyone he met. He attended Faith Baptist Church, where he enjoyed singing in the choir. His love for worship and fellowship was a meaningful part of his life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Rebecca Hepler and Bonnie Jones.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Teresa Plott; two daughters, Charlene (Brett) Snead and Anna (Chris) Tucker; grandchildren Nicole-BooBoo (Calvin) Graham, Faith (Joshua) Mills, Hope Page, Christian Tucker, Alyson Gillenwater, Eva Tucker, and Kassidy Gillenwater; and four great-grandchildren, Paisley, Mackenzie, Malachi, and Jensen; his sister, Carol Huggard; and his brother, William Plott.
A funeral service will be held at the chapel of Loving Funeral Home on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 11:00 A.M., officiated by Rev. Billy Price. Interment will follow at Alleghany Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends attending the service.
The family will receive friends at Loving Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6:00P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
