HIGHLAND COUNTY, Va. (VR) – Virginia State Police is investigating a single-vehicle crash, which resulted in a fatality. The crash occurred Wednesday, (June 11) at 12:15 p.m. on Potomac River Road, two tenths of a mile north of Sunset Drive in Highland County.
A 2021 Subaru Forester was traveling south on Potomac River Road, when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a fence and overturned.
The driver of the Subaru was identified as Rebecca Hunt Walker, 70, of Monterey, Va. Ms. Walker was not wearing her seatbelt and was transported to the University of Virginia Hospital, where she later died.
The crash remains under investigation.
