COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – Juneteenth Legacy United, a recently formed nonprofit, will sponsor a Juneteenth celebration on June 14. The event will be at Jeter Watson Park, 524 East Pine Street. This year’s theme is “Honoring the past and celebrating the progress–Be the change you want to see.”

The year’s event will include Juneteenth history, guest speakers Dr. James E. Laws. Jr., an educator, author, and artist; and Evangelist Tamala Preston, both natives of Covington. There will also be local dignitaries, free food, children’s activities, festive entertainment, laser tag competition, and much more.

This is a casual wear event, totally free of charge, including drawings for door prizes supplied by local businesses and service organizations. There will be several vendors offering an array of goods and services, and additional vendors are welcome.

Organizers said, “Please come and join us along with your family and friends.”

You may contact Marie Fitzpatrick at 540-969-9888 for any further questions.
