LOW MOOR Va. (VR) – Alleghany High School honored the Class of 2025 during its annual capping ceremony held Friday afternoon in the school auditorium. The cherished tradition brought together family, friends, and faculty for an emotional and celebratory event recognizing the achievements of this year’s seniors.
Principal Derek Cantrell addressed the audience, sharing words of pride and encouragement. “These ceremonies shine a light on our seniors’ accomplishments and the spirit of the Class of 2025,” he said. “It’s a moment to reflect on how far they’ve come and to honor all that they’ve achieved.”
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the announcement of Ezekiel Downey and Ella Hicks as Mr. and Miss AHS — an honor awarded to two students who exemplify leadership, school spirit, and academic excellence. The pair received enthusiastic applause as they took the stage to accept their sashes.
During the ceremony, seniors were capped by family members or mentors, a symbolic moment that marks the transition from high school to the next chapter of life. The auditorium was filled with smiles, tears, and applause as each student was recognized.
