COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – Covington Moose Lodge held a Child ID Event at the Covington Parks and Recreation Kids Day at the Jackson River Sports Complex on Saturday, May 10, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Sixty child ID jump drive IDs were completed and given to the parents for safekeeping during the four-hour event. Information on the jump drives included personal information, fingerprints, facial pictures, and parent/guardian information for emergency use by police or emergency personnel.

Volunteers helping with registration and computer entry were Covington Moose: Dottie Webb, Wanda Randozzo, Samantha Campbell, Chris Phillips, Becky Rowe-Robertson, Scott Hubbard, “Buckethead” Lawson, Jason Hall, Austin Smith, Ricky Fridley, Paula Crance; Appomattox Lodge: Dawn Hilliard, Dianne Ryan; and Salem Lodge: Becky Morris, Melanie Hartman, Jim Spangler, and Kathy Harvey.

The Child ID is a part of the Safe Surfin Foundation’s fight to save children from child trafficking, predators and the horrible crimes against our children in our area and in the world. Safe Surfin is worldwide with its beginning in Bedford, Virginia in 1998. The Moose organization was one of the first organizations to fund and support the foundation. We can make a difference in our area and for our children.
