Abby Martin graduates from Bridgewater College

BRIDGEWATER, Va. (VR) – Abby Lynn Martin graduated from Bridgewater College Saturday, May 3rd, with a biology major, psychology minor, Magna Cum Laude, and Flory Honors.                                                              
     
While at Bridgewater, she was a 4-year member of the swim team and holds two records in the 200 meter and yard free relay on the BC record board. Abby was a member of Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society, a 4-year All-ODAC (Old Dominion Athletic Conference) academic team member, awarded “most improved” swimmer in 2023, All-ODAC (4th place) in 2024, and received the “Eagle Standard” swim award in 2025.                                                                                                                                              
She was a member of the pre-medical and environmental science clubs, was employed all 4 years on campus as a student ambassador in admissions and volunteered many hours in the Bridgewater community. She completed a month-long intensive learning May-term in 2023 where she studied history and french in Belgium, France, and England.
       
She was a recipient of the Presidential Merit award full tuition scholarship in 2021, inducted into Bridgewater’s Flory Honors College as a freshman, and a member of the Philomathes Academic Honor Society and the ODK National Honor Society for leadership. Abby was nominated by the Bridgewater faculty and staff last month and selected by the Bridgewater Rotary Club as the recipient of the Carlyle Whitelow award for exemplifying Carlyle’s kindness, generosity of spirit, and dedication to community service.     
       
Abby plans on furthering her education in the field of medicine. She is the daughter of Daryl and Mary Lynn Martin of Clifton Forge, and a 2021 honor graduate of Alleghany High School.
