RADFORD, Va. (VR) – Despite a tough 4–2 loss, the Covington Middle School girls soccer team proved they’ve got fight, grit, and the determination to bounce back stronger. Missing a key defender made all the difference, but don’t expect the same story come Monday—this team is locked in and ready to take on the challenge.
Goalkeeper Marley Aragones was nothing short of a wall in net, racking up 10 saves and keeping the game within striking distance. Every save was a testament to her quick reflexes and fearless play, and without her stellar performance, the game could’ve been much worse.
On the offensive side, Emeri Brown was all over the field, scoring both goals for Covington. Her relentless energy and ability to find the back of the net kept the team in it until the very end. The fight was there, and Brown showed exactly what this team is capable of when they have momentum.
The absence of a key defender created some gaps that the opposition took advantage of, but Covington never backed down. They kept pushing, kept fighting, and learned valuable lessons that will make Monday’s game a completely different story.
With the full squad expected to return and a chip on their shoulders, Covington is ready to come back stronger, faster, and more determined than ever. The girls are hungry for redemption—and they’re coming for it.
