COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – The Alleghany Highlands Chorale will present its Spring concert this Sunday afternoon, May 4, at three o’clock at First Presbyterian Church. The program will be a delightful blend of beautiful music performed by our own local singers.

Under the direction of Sandra Minter, Anne Scruggs, and Allan Tucker the group will share medleys from Beauty and the Beast, Wicked, and West Side Story, along with a collection of Irving Berlin favorites. The afternoon will conclude with a patriotic theme.

Members of the Alleghany Highlands Chorale are: Jacy Burdette, Reba Cartwright, Beverly Johnson, Sandra Minter, Cathy Rowan, Anne Scruggs, Michele Wright, Debby Amick, Emily Amick, Pat Myers, Susan Rollinson, Heather Simmons, Debbie Young, Lon Rollinson, Lucas Skiff, Gary Whitmer, Wayne Winebriner, John Young, Howard Liptrap, Jr., Allan Tucker and David Wheeler.

Cathy Drummer serves as the chorale accompanist.

All are welcome, and doors will open for seating at First Presbyterian beginning at 2:30 pm on Sunday. Admission is by donation.

The Chorale operates under the auspices of the Alleghany Highlands Arts Council with supplemental funding provided by the Virginia Commission for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, County of Alleghany, Town of Clifton Forge, and City of Covington along wit a private donor.

For more information about the concert, to arrange handicapped assistance, or how to join the Chorale, call the Arts Council at 540-962-ARTS (2787).
