BUENA VISTA, Va. (VR) – After a tough loss the night before, the Bath County Varsity Chargers returned to the diamond Tuesday evening with something to prove. And thanks to clutch hitting from Gunnar Whiddon and a resilient team effort, they did just that — earning a 19-12 redemption victory over Parry McCluer in a high-octane battle.

The sting of Monday’s loss hadn’t faded, but rather fueled the fire. From the first pitch, Bath County made it clear they weren’t going to let another one slip away.

Gunnar Whiddon led the charge with a monster day at the plate, going 4-for-5 with five RBIs. He doubled to right in the first to get the Chargers on the board, then added a two-run triple in the second and a two-run single in the third. It was a statement performance — one that reflected not only his own determination but the fire burning in the entire Chargers lineup.

Proved themselves they did, the Chargers tallied 17 hits on the night, scoring in every inning but the fifth. Their offense answered every blow from Parry McCluer, refusing to let momentum slip away.

After taking an 8-3 lead in the second, Bath County watched it evaporate just as quickly when Parry McCluer roared back with six runs of their own. But unlike the night before, the Chargers didn’t fold. They answered in the third, reclaiming the lead with big hits from Whiddon and Owen Perdue.

The turning point came in the fourth, when I. Ingram ripped a clutch two-run single to put Bath County back on top 14-12 — a lead they wouldn’t relinquish again.

Issac Ingram wasn’t just a force at the plate; he also came in to steady the mound, earning the win with four strong innings in relief. He struck out four and allowed just one earned run, giving the Chargers the shutdown performance they needed to hold off a persistent Parry McCluer offense.

Isaac Ingram closed the door in the final inning, striking out three and sealing the redemption win with authority.

Whiddon and Ingram led the offensive charge with five RBIs each, while Cooper Lowry, Perdue, James Campbell, and Jase Boguess added key contributions in a balanced attack.

The win was more than just another notch in the win column — it was a response, a bounce-back, a reminder of the grit and heart this Bath County squad carries.

Bath County moves forward with momentum, and perhaps more importantly, with belief — in their bats, in their bullpen, and in each other.
