ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. (VR) – Virginia State Police is investigating a three-vehicle crash which resulted in a fatality. The crash occurred Tuesday,
(April 1) at 11:17 a.m. on Route 60, at the intersection of Route 1104 in Alleghany County.
A 2008 Chrysler was traveling south and changed lanes striking a 2018 Honda Goldwing and a 2014 Freightliner tractor trailer which were stopped a red light.
The driver of the Chrysler, Elizabeth A. Huston, 58, of Covington, Va., was wearing her seatbelt and was injured. Ms. Huston was transported to a nearby hospital for injuries received in the crash. Ms. Huston was charged with Reckless Driving.
The driver of the Honda motorcycle, William Painter Simmons, 69, Fincastle, Va. Mr. Simmons was transported to Lewis Gale Hospital Alleghany, where he later died.
The driver of the Freightliner was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
