The Council for the City of Covington will hold a Public Hearing followed by a work session on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall located at 333 W. Locust Street, Covington, Virginia.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA (Portion of meeting used to add or make changes.)
PUBLIC HEARING:
City of Covington Council will conduct a public hearing to consider Ordinance 0-25-02: Tax Exemption for Widows of Fallen First Responders. To amend and reenact Chapter 42, Taxation, Article III, Real Estate Taxes by adding Section 42-48, Exemption for Surviving Spouse for Certain First Responders.

APPOINTMENTS
1. Appoint a representative for the Industrial Development Authority (IDA). The city checked with the IDA about appointment requirements after the Council meeting on March 11, 2025. The IDA advised that a Council Member cannot serve on the IDA. A citizen must fill out the assignment.
2. Appoint a representative to the Alleghany Highlands Economic Development Corporation (AHEDC). (Expired on 03-10-2025, due to representative Xavier Storey’s relocation outside the Alleghany Highlands.)
3. Appoint two Planning Commission Representatives:
