Alleghany County Parks and Recreation will host the 35th annual original free Kids Fishing Day on Saturday, April 19th on Dunlap Creek at Boys’ Home.

The event is open to kids ages 4 to 15. All participants must be accompanied by an adult. No fishing license required, but state fishing laws do apply! Just bring your pole and bait!

Dunlap Creek will be stocked with rainbow trout as well as some GOLDEN to commemorate our 35th year! Adults may cast for a child if necessary but the child must land and reel the fish in on their own. Registration will begin at 8:30 AM with fishing running from 9:00 AM – 12:00 Noon.

There will also be a free picnic down by the creek starting at 11:00, followed by prizes!

The first 100 participants registered will receive a Kids Fishing Day t-shirt too! Thanks to all the generous sponsors which allows this event to be free! Come out for a day full of fun!
