James Allen Woodson

James Allen Woodson, age 70, of 1025 McCormick Blvd, Clifton Forge, Virginia died on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at his residence.

James was born on September 28, 1954 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Roy Elwood Woodson and Mary Sue Toombs (Woodson) Arrington. He grew up in the Highlands, served in the Army National Guard, and worked as a contractor for various companies.  James enjoyed hunting, fishing, and writing poetry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Woodson, and a granddaughter, Hope Ruble.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Kay Hiler Woodson of Clifton Forge;  three daughters, April Feury (James) of Covington, Charity Dressler (David) of Millboro, and Chrystal Williams (Benny) of Covington; a sister, Julie Woodson of Goshen; four brothers, Greg Woodson (Kathy) of Clifton Forge, Steve Woodson (Daisy) of Stuarts Draft, Terry Woodson of Goshen and Andy Woodson of Goshen; a brother-in-law, Pat Hiler (Cathy) of Covington; six grandchildren, Austin Woodson, Miranda Smith, Amelia Williams, Trey Feury, Cody Feury, and C. J. Phelps; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated.  No services are scheduled at this time.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions in James’s memory to ConnectionsPlus Healthcare and Hospice.
