CLIFTON FORGE, Va. (VR) – The Woodlands Health and Rehab’s Activities Department and Curtis A Smith VFW Post 1033 have formed a volunteer partnership with the goal of assisting with activities and bringing veteran awareness to the center. The first goal is for the auxiliary to assist with bingo games on Fridays. This provides opportunities for residents who may have physical or cognitive limitations by giving person centered assistance through one-on-one adaptations.
Another major part of this partnership will be where residents can enjoy contributing to veteran card projects. The residents were a part of the successful Valentines for Veterans this year. With their assistance, the auxiliary will be able to send cards for more holiday such as Easter, Memorial Day, Veterans Day and Christmas. The auxiliary strives to touch as many veterans lives as they can throughout the year. The endeavor equally benefits the Woodlands because it provides personal vocational fulfillment and meaning within an aging and/or disabled population.
We are honored to be a part of this program and bring awareness to all veterans.
We thank Emily Moss, Activities Director, for this great opportunity to touch a life.
