LOW MOOR, VA. (VR) — The Alleghany Cougars Boys Varsity soccer team put up a determined fight in a tough 2-4 loss on Tuesday night, showing resilience despite recent lineup challenges. Facing a strong opponent, the Cougars adjusted to the absence of their starting center back, forcing a defensive and midfield reorganization. The match saw moments of brilliance from Alleghany, with Mason Hale and each finding the back of the net. Bryce Wiseman provided a key assist, helping to keep the Cougars competitive throughout the game. Despite their efforts, Alleghany struggled to find their usual passing rhythm, something Head Coach Jose Aragones acknowledged after the match. “We couldn’t get our passing game working, but we were still in the game until the end,” said Aragones. “The team adjusted well under difficult circumstances, and I’m proud of the fight they showed.”
The Cougars remained competitive, applying pressure late in the match, but the opposition managed to hold their lead. The loss brings valuable lessons as the team looks to regroup and fine-tune their strategy for the upcoming games. With their next match on the horizon, Alleghany will focus on tightening their passing and strengthening their defensive adjustments.
