Billy Gene Booker, Sr.
Billy Gene Booker, Sr., 84, of Covington, went to rest peacefully on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Booker was born February 16, 1941, in Beckley, WV, a son of the late Jesse and Ada Henderson Booker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Imogene Poindexter; three brothers, Clarence Booker, Jesse Booker, and Charles Booker.
Bill was a very special man, always whispering or singing a tune. His love for people was outstanding and he was always ready to help others. From building to car repair, he was always there with a smile on his face and would say “I don’t know if I can help but I’m here and will do what I can”. Billy enriched others in his life with his kind and comforting words. He loved to talk about his creator whenever he could. He would always have his Bible open. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Bill was certainly blessed. He worked for Oliver Distributing in and Smurfit Westrock for more than 30
years. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Covington.
Surviving is his loving wife of 50 years, Elizabeth Robinson Booker, of Covington; two sons, Billy G. Booker, Jr., of Rockhill, SC and Billy “Little Bill” Booker and his wife, Mary, of Roanoke; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; five sisters, Gracie Green, Mary Ann Booker, Betty (Lennie) Brooks, Rose Marie Booker, and Bertha Brackenridge; three brothers, Jerry (Renee) Booker, Robert (Judy) Booker,
and Johnny Raye; along with friends John and Kim Myers, and Nathan and Caneesha Myers.
A funeral service will be held Friday, March 7, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Elsid Frye officiating.
The family will receive their friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Arritt Funeral Home.
Interment will be made in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
