COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – Patriotic books introduce youth to our nation’s history and the key figures who built our great country while also fostering a love of reading and a lifetime of reading. One place to start is the Patriotism through Literacy Book List provided by the Auxiliary’s Youth Activities National Program.
The Alleghany Highlands Regional Library and Curtis A Smith VFW Post 1033 Auxiliary are partnering to bring Patriotism Through Literacy to our local library under the direction of Lisa Sponaugle and Tori Fortig. Lisa Sponaugle explains the first event. “The library will be hosting its second PJ Palooza Family Reading Night on April 15th.
We will be featuring dynamic readers, including volunteers from VFW Post 1033 Auxiliary. Kids will cozy up in their Pjs with their favorite “lovies” and engage in a night that promotes literacy with stories, snacks and FUN!
If anyone has any patriotic books they would like to donate to the Alleghany Highlands Regional Library, please contact Lisa Sponaugle. We will be reading to children of all ages.
Please mark your calendars for this event. Hope to see you there.
