Jolonda Lee Crizer Pendleton
Jolonda Lee Crizer Pendleton, age 85, of 315 Third Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia died on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at the home of her daughter in Covington, Virginia.
Jolonda was born on July 26, 1939 in Covington to the late Raymond Lee and Juanita Hoff Crizer. She worked throughout her life as a seamstress for Jane Colby, a nursing assistant for the former Chesapeake and Ohio Hospital, and as a Magistrate for Clifton Forge, Alleghany County, and Covington. She became a Celebrant or Justice of the Peace and assisted families with life events such as weddings and funerals. She was a member of First Christian Church Disciples in Christ, serving as a former member of the Circle # 6 and as a Deacon of the Church.
In addition to her parents, Jolonda was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Harry “Spunk” Pendleton, Sr.; a son, Vernon H. “Rocky” Pendleton, Jr.; two sisters, Thelka Crizer Malashevich and Peggy Grimes Paxton; and three brothers, Ernest Grimes, Jr., Paul Douglas Grimes, and Raymond Leroy “Butch” Crizer.
She is survived by her children, Vicky Anderson and husband Charles of Covington, Richard “Rick” Pendleton and wife Becky of Iron Gate, and Jeanie Hyler and husband Timothy of Covington; three grandchildren, Melinda Seay, Amanda Wilhelm, and Ahmed Flores; six great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Mike Warren officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home.
