Nicely picks up pair of swim victories

DALEVILLE – Days before their final swim meet before their winter break Alleghany competed with Lord Botetourt and Carroll County at the Botetourt YMCA.
 
Between both the boys’ and girls’ teams Alleghany won two individual events and racked up four second place finishes in the relay events.
 
Kara Nicely won a pair of swimming events in the 50-yard freestyle and in the 100-yard butterfly.
 
Nicely, along with Cora Hodges, Emily Peters, and Katie Stull, led Alleghany to second place in both the 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relays.
 
The boys team also swam to two second place relays.
 
Cadence Bland, James Conner, Nolan Rosales, and Logan Walton, helped Alleghany to second place in the 200-yard medley relay. Meanwhile Bland, Conner, Rosales, and Isaiah Thomas finished second in the 200-yard freestyle event.
 
This Thursday Alleghany is back in the water for competition at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center.
