Steve was born July 26, 1952, in Covington VA, the son of Earl W. Croy and Betty Mae Wood Croy, both of whom preceded him in death. Like all kids of a certain age raised in Rivermont, his childhood provided many lifelong friends and cherished memories of a young man’s days on the “hill”. When his friends and family gathered, those good times were always a primary topic of conversation.
Steve is survived by his two children, daughter, and son-in-law Brianne Croy Gilbert and husband Mark, and son Matthew B. Croy, grandchildren Nikolas Croy and Jordan and Avery Gilbert, sisters and brothers in-law Linda Sue Croy Owens and husband John, Cathy Croy Rice and husband Steve, and one niece, Macie Rice and Austin Taylor.
Steve was a big man with an even bigger personality. His joy came from time spent with those he loved. Laughing, joking, picking and reminiscing with family and friends was deemed as good as it gets.
Per his wishes, Steve’s remains were cremated and his family will honor him with an intimate memorial service.
The family wishes to thank his many friends for their prayers and well wishes during this trying time. We truly appreciate it.
