Tony Corwin Nicely
Tony Corwin Nicely, age 65, of 416 Commerce Avenue, Iron Gate, Virginia died on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Lewis Gale Medical Center, Salem, Virginia.
Tony was born on May 25, 1959, in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late Sylvester T. “Beck” Nicely and Nellie Nicely Nicely Sampson. He served in the United States Marine Corps with the 1st Marine Division Tank Battalion and was an excellent marksman with a rifle or pistol. He was a retired Operator 2 for the Westvaco Extruder Plant and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and searching for mushrooms in his spare time. He was an avid fan of the Oregon Ducks football team and a member of Walton Memorial United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his life partner, Sandy Hartley of Iron Gate; two sons, Matthew Chase Nicely (Pam Boyd) and Anthony Daniel Nicely (Morgan Sydenstricker), both of Covington; two stepdaughters, Mikki Curtis (Cheyenne) of Iron Gate and Midori Hartley of Clifton Forge; six grandchildren, Cannon Lennox Nicely, Anthony Gunnar Nicely, Sidney Curtis, J. T. Wolfe, Axton Sydenstricker, and Jackson Sydenstricker; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as his dog, Darla and his cat, Weezer.
In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated, and a graveside memorial service will be held in Sharon Baptist Cemetery, Clifton Forge at a later date.
