Well, Christmas is almost here.
It’s truly unbelievable how quickly the holiday season arrives. One minute, you’re celebrating Halloween, then it’s Thanksgiving, and finally, Christmas comes faster than you can imagine.
One of the worst things that can happen to a person is when they say, it just doesn’t feel like Christmas.” We have all been at that point at some time or another and honestly, it can be a dreadful feeling. It is supposed to be the time of year when everyone is happy, smiling, at peace within themselves, and if you are fortunate enough to do so, spend time with family.
People do different things to get in the mood for Christmas. Some will go around neighborhoods and look at lights, others decorate their own homes, bake cookies, and some will attend Christmas parties and events.
However, I would venture to guess the main tradition is to watch as many Christmas movies as possible.
In my opinion, nothing can get you excited for Christmas—other than excited children— more than good Christmas movies.
Typically, a few days after Thanksgiving, the holiday movies fill the TV screens consistently. There’s just something about kicking back in the chair, firing up National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and just relaxing and laughing all the way through it. It can change a person’s mood in an instant and I think people have begun to realize that more and more each year.
There are so many good ones to choose from that it’s hard to name a top five.
But if I absolutely had to make a list, this would probably be it (in no particular order):
Christmas Vacation
The Santa Clause
Home Alone 1 and 2
Christmas with the Kranks
Jingle All the Way
There’s plenty more. But the five—I guess six if you count BOTH Home Alone’s— above are the ones I would want to take with me if I were to ever be stranded on an island somewhere.
Something else I’ve done this year is go through my favorite sitcom TV shows and watch every Christmas episode in the series. It’s another relaxing tactic that can make the Grinch leave your soul and bring Santa Claus right into your heart.
How do you prepare for Christmas to make sure it feels like Christmas? And what are your top five, must-watch Christmas movies each year?

So, however you spend it and whatever you celebrate, everyone have a great Christmas and holiday season.
