Patty Biggs Hyler
Patty Biggs Hyler, age 85, formerly of Ingalls St. in Clifton Forge, passed away peacefully at the Woodlands Health and Rehabilitation Center from this life and into the arms of her beloved Jesus.
Born May,9,1939 in Ronceverte, WV, Patty was adopted by the late John and Ellen Biggs of Glen Wilton. In addition to her parents, Patty was preceded in death by her husband Delmas Sidney Hyler, brother John “Johnny” Biggs Jr., sisters Gail Biggs and Katie Camp Lindsay, and her favorite so-in-law Thomas “Thom” Burnette.
Patty is survived by her daughter, Sarah Burnette of Selma; two sisters Rosalynn Powell of Pace, Florida and Dee Pennington(Rich) of Glen Wilton; five grandchildren, Nikita Dressler of Millboro, Megan Burnette Russell (Dustin) of Rustburg, Thomas “Tommy” Ray Burnette II (Oressa Martin) of Covington, Aaron (Rebekah) Burnette of Clifton Forge and Issac Burnette of Selma, nine great-grandchildren, Rachael Sullivan, Conley Dressler, Eli and Savannah Russell, Gabriella and Madeline Rae Burnette, Kenzie and Kyrah Martin, and Baby Amelia Burnette.
Patty led a hard life on earth but her faith in God sustained her throughout every trial. Patty was a natural-born nurturer who possessed the incredible gifts of mercy and forgiveness and rather than allow life to make her hard and jaded, Patty chose to allow the Lord to keep her heart soft and in some ways child-like. Patty loved all people but she especially loved children and babies. She lived her best life once her grandchildren and then her great-grandchildren came into her world.
Patty is a true testimony of a life well lived. Not only did Patty know the Word of God she lived the Word of God. Patty had great empathy and great wisdom. Her generosity knew no bounds and she would give to others even while in dire need herself. Patty was loyal to a fault, and she was willing to stand up for what she believed and those she loved even when it was not easy or popular, Patty’s servant’s heart could be witnessed even in the throes of Alzheimer’s as Patty still wanted and tried to help people.
Dynamite comes in small packages and at 4’11 Patty could be feisty and stubborn. God gifted this tiny woman with enough determination and perseverance to more than make up for her small stature. Always ready with wit, grit and never quit. She believed in people when people did not or could believe in themselves. Patty was a great listener who was quick to tell you what you needed to hear even when you didn’t want to hear it.
A funeral service will be held for Patty on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Pastor Steve Noel and Pastor Cindy Carr officiating. Interment will immediately follow. The family will visit with friends on Sunday afternoon from 12:00 PM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
