Alfred Monroe Fox
Mr. Alfred Monroe Fox, age 84, of Covington, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at his residence. He was the husband of Virginia Ann (Jenny) Fox.
Mr. Fox was born February 28, 1940 in Meadow Bridge, WV, the son of the late Edward Monroe Fox and Anna Williams Fox. He became a resident of this area in 1963. Alfred was employed as a slitter operator by the former Hercules, Inc and the former AET for forty-two years. Mr. Fox was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. In his spare time, Alfred enjoyed playing horse shoes, working on lawn mowers and solving crossword puzzles. Mr. Fox was an outgoing and friendly person who enjoyed talking with everyone and never met a stranger. A wonderful husband, father and grandfather, Alfred loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Jenny, Mr. Fox is survived by a son, Gregory Paul Fox and wife, Sandy of Covington; a daughter, Lisa Ann Barnett and husband, Randall of Covington; four grandchildren, Dakota Fox, Hannah Breeden, Madison Barnett and Kate Barnett; two brothers, Roger L. Fox of Covington and David R. Fox and companion, Wilma Polk of Beckley; a sister, Carol Sowder and husband, Ronnie of Pipestem, WV; family member, caregiver and hospice nurse, Makayla Phillips; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family members and countless friends.
Mr. Fox was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Grimmett and husband, Reece as well as sister-in-law, Anna L. Fox.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Eddie Irvine officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday afternoon from 12:30 P.M. until time of service at Loving Funeral Home.
