HOT SPRINGS – Bath County High School has announced its top students for the Class of 2010.
Dascher Pasco has been named valedictorian, while Melissa Sampson has been named salutatorian.
Dascher is the daughter of Dabney Pasco Sr. and Laura Dascher. At BCHS she has been a member of the Student Council Association since ninth grade.
She currently serves as SCA president and was SCA vice president last year. She is also president of the senior class.
She has been a member of the Beta Club for the past two years, and has been a member of the Academic Bowl team for the past three years.
She has also been a member of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Club and the Foreign Cultures organization for four years.
Last summer she served as a delegate to Virginia Girls State. She has also been involved with the tutoring program and with the People to People Ambassador Program.
Dascher was a member of the BCHS soccer team her sophomore year, and was a jayvee cheerleader during her freshman year.
In her spare time, Dasher enjoys horseback riding and working at Cucci’s at The Varsity. She attends Temple Emmanuel Church in Roanoke.
Following graduation, she plans on attending the College of William and Mary.
Melissa is the daughter of Dorothy Sampson and Clinton McDonald of Millboro. At BCHS, she has been named numerous times to the Honor Roll since her eighth grade year.
She has been involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes organization since her sophomore year, and has been a member of the Beta Club since her junior year.
She was a member of the jayvee cheerleading squad her freshman year, and has been a varsity cheerleader since her sophomore year. She has been co-captain of the squad for the past two years. She has been a member of the Chatelaines dance team the past two years. In 2008, she performed as part of a cheerleading squad during the halftime show of the Capital One Bowl.
Melissa has been involved in band since the fifth grade.
She was Drum Major of the BCHS band this year. She was first place overall Drum Major out of 16 bands during the Lynchburg Classic competition, and second place overall Drum Major out of 15 bands during the Stonewall Brigade competition. She has been a clarinet section leader since her freshman year, and was band captain last year.
Last summer, Melissa was a delegate for Virginia Girls State, and last year was a delegate for People to People at the Unviersity of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She was also named Miss Bath County in 2008.
Melissa attends Woodland Union Church in Millboro.
Following graduation, she plans to attend Virginia Tech to major in Animal and Poultry Sciences, and also to further her education in veterinary school.
Dascher, Melissa and the rest of the BCHS Class of 2010 will participate in graduation ceremonies June 11 at 7 p.m. in the BCHS auditorium.
