Brenda Carol Warwick Perkins
Mrs. Brenda Carol Warwick Perkins, age 78, of Covington, died Monday, October 14, 2024, at LewisGale Medical Center, Salem. She was the wife of Robert Lynn Perkins.
Mrs. Perkins was born March 6, 1946 in Covington, the daughter of the late James Wood Warwick and Thelma Warwick McCallister. Brenda enjoyed life. She worked for forty-seven years as a cafeteria manager for the Covington City Public School Systems. Brenda had also worked as a
supervisor for the former Jane Colby, Incorporated. Mrs. Perkins enjoyed spending her free time traveling and watching her grandchildren in sporting events, gardening, cooking and spending time with family. Brenda volunteered many hours coaching the local challenger baseball team.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Perkins is survived by two sons, Ronald (Ronnie) Woods Perkins of Covington and Randal (Randy) Lee and Brooke Perkins of Covington; four grandchildren, Jessica M. Perkins of Daleville, Shawn M. and Julia Perkins of Richmond, Abigail L. Perkins of Covington and Jackson L. Perkins of Covington; a sister, Mary Ann Beirne of Covington; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Gail Perkins and Max Shawver; five nieces and nephews, Joy and Craig Wood and daughter of Danville, Elizabeth Beirne of Richmond, Horton (H.P.) Beirne and daughter of Kansas City; Valerie Sowers and children of Covington; and Lee Ann Byer, her husband and children of Maryland.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Perkins was preceded in death by a son, Robert (Robbie) Lynn Perkins, Jr., step-father, Oscar R. McCallister; sister, Norma Warwick Leech; and brother-in-law, Horton Penrose Beirne.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 19, 2024 at the Covington Middle School Auditorium with Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park
Pallbearers will be Shawn Perkins, Max Shawver, Leroy Perkins, Wayne Perkins, Craig Wood and Horton (HP) Beirne.
The family will receive friends on Saturday morning from 11:30 A.M. until time of service at Covington Middle School Auditorium and at other times at the residence of her sister, Mary Ann Beirne, 125 N. Lexington Avenue, Covington.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Area 18 Special Olympics, 305 S. Craig Avenue, Covington, VA 24426.
