Maurice Goode of Covington arrested on illicit communications with a minor

On 10/08/24 Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office along with members of the Covington Division of Police and the Virginia State Police
arrested Mr. Maurice Goode of Covington, VA.

After a lengthy investigation it was discovered that Mr. Goode engaged in illicit communications and made arrangements with a minor utilizing electronic devices.

This arrest is part of an ongoing effort to combat child exploitation and ensure the safety of our children.

Mr. Goode was arrested and is currently being held in the Alleghany County Regional Jail without bond.

Sheriff Moore stated that “the protection of our youth is our highest priority and we will continue to work diligently to track down these individuals who attempt to exploit vulnerable minors using technology. This arrest sends a clear message that such criminal behavior will not be tolerated.”

and report any suspicious communications to local law enforcement.
