Here we go, another week in the books for high school football, which means a new weekly ranking ahead of the Week 7 high school football week.

Alleghany is coming off of a bye where they enter Week 7 unbeaten at 5-0 and 1-0 in the Three Rivers District play.

The Cougars have a tough matchup ahead of them this week on the road at Carroll County who is 5-1 and off to a good start as well.

This game alone has district title implications as well as regional ranking implications.

Last year Alleghany defeated Carroll Co. 47-0 which helped push them to a 9-1 regular season record before the Cougar lost to Rustburg in the Class 3, Region C playoff tournament.

With a ton of football remaining this season even after this week’s games, the rankings for the regional tournaments will continue to go up and down.

This week Alleghany stayed steady at 3rd, while Heritage (Lynchburg) jumped from 4th to 2nd.

New to the top-8 this week, Broadway. The Gobblers grabbed a big road victory in Penn Laird last Friday following a 17-10 win over the reigning Valley District Champion Spotswood Trailblazers.

Like I’ve been preaching, these rankings are constantly changing week by week. Nothing is imminent until the final game of the season and all games’ game clocks have zeros on the scoreboard.

1. Liberty Christian Academy 4-0

2. Heritage (Lynchburg) 4-1

3. Alleghany 5-0

4. Turner Ashby 5-0

5. Rustburg 4-1

6. East Rockingham 4-2

7. Brookville 3-2

8. Broadway 4-2

————————-

9. Staunton 4-2

10. Wilson Memorial 3-3

11. Monticello 3-2

12. Fluvanna County 3-2

13. Spotswood 3-3

14. Rocktown 1-4

15. Waynesboro 0-6

16. Western Albemarle 0-5

17. Rockbridge County 0-6
