At approximately 2:21 a.m. ET on Oct. 7, a CSX train derailed 25 railcars containing coal near Covington, Virginia. No injuries were reported.
CSX immediately activated its emergency response procedures and is working closely with Covington Police and other emergency responders to assess the situation. Our primary focus right now is the health and safety of onsite staff and personnel, the surrounding community, and mitigating risk to the environment.
The cause of the incident is currently under investigation.
