LOW MOOR – Alleghany is the defending regular season Three Rivers District volleyball champions and will be on the hunt for even more success in 2024 after missing out on a berth in the Class 3, Region C tournament.

Despite an 18-6 overall record last year and winning the TRD, the Cougars finished in 9th place in the region. AHS and East Rock High School (8th seed) were separated by .35 points.

For the 2024 season Alleghany returns a plethora of talent that are ready to once again not only take the district by storm, but also make a name for themselves in the region. The Cougars finished 10-2 in district play.

AHS has a loaded roster with the majority all being upperclassmen on their varsity roster with the exception of Kendra Dressler who is a sophomore. The Cougars have six seniors on the team and seven juniors.

Seniors and top kills leaders Kaiya Lian and Laken Tingler are back for their final run at a regional opportunity. Lian led Alleghany with 261 while Tingler had 158.

There are a ton of assists ready to pile onto the next one up. Gone is Lexi Dressler who had a team-leading 417 assists in 80 total sets played in. Jayahna Hughes who finished second on the team with 181 assists will look to take over as the teams assist leader.

While Dressler is a key missing piece to the team, the Cougars will also look to replace the production from graduates Trinity Scott who was fourth on the team in kills with 88 and Taylor Scott who was also fourth for digs with 117.

Senior Bryce Leitch will look to add on to her kills this season after finishing just short of triple digits with 96. Lian and fellow senior Nevaeh Forbes were at the forefront of the digs leaders with Lian leading the way with 258, while Forbes added 243.

Alleghany opens the 2024 season on Monday, August 26th at Wilson Memorial in a non-district contest.
