SALEM — James Peyton Ailstock Sr., 77, of Salem, died Friday, September 11, 2009.
He was born January 17, 1932 in Covington, the son of the late Gordon Thomas and Edith Brown Ailstock.
Mr. Ailstock was retired from General Electric, and was a member of the Evangelical Methodist Church in Salem.
He was a graduate of Central High School in Low Moor and served our country in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Ailstock; sons, James Ailstock Jr. and wife Linda, and Michael Ailstock and wife Lyndsey; daughters, Pam Kirtner and husband Benjamin and Sandra Christian and husband Larry; sister, Elsie Cook; grandchildren , Trevor, Terry, Nicole, Virginia, Daniel, Kim, Lisa and Eric; great-grandchildren, Cecelia and Brianna.
A funeral service will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at the Evangelical Methodist Church in Salem with the Rev. Brian Gordon officiating.
Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem.
