Authorities have made another arrest in a murder-for hire plot involving a Covington woman.
Michael John Davis, 20, of Covington was arrested Thursday by the Covington Police Department.
Davis is charged with conspiracy to commit attempted capital murder and conspiring solicitation to commit murder. He was arraigned this morning in Alleghany County General District Court.
His mother, Mary Katherine Davis, 58, of Covington, was arrested Monday after she allegedly gave a Virginia State Police undercover agent a cash downpayment to arrange the murder of her husband. The State Police agent was posing as a hit man.
Mary Katherine Davis was ordered to be held without bond following a hearing in General District Court Thursday.
Her case was transferred to Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 12.
She is charged with attempted capital murder for hire and solicitation for murder. She is being held at the Alleghany Regional Jail in Covington.
Mary Davis faces 20 years to life in prison on the attempted capital murder charge, and five to 20 years for solicitation to commit murder.
Michael Davis is also being held at the Alleghany Regional Jail.
Covington police and Virginia State Police are continuing their investigation.
