SELMA VA. (VR) – An arrest has been made after a shooting incident in Selma, Virginia early on the Fourth of July.
According to a press release from the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office, an individual called deputies reporting four males in front of her residence on Staunton Street. A responding Clifton Forge officer reported shots fired from the residence at a fleeing vehicle.
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old William Christoffer Sorrels, was detained at the scene. An AR .223 was also recovered.
Authorities say a white Nissan Altima with four people inside arrived at LewisGale Alleghany with a juvenile suffering a gunshot wound to the lower right leg. The juvenile was airlifted to Roanoke for further treatment.
An investigation revealed the four individuals were in the area of the residence and we’re on our near the property when the homeowner fired at them. The homeowner is facing charges including malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and shooting at an occupied vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing. There is no threat to the public.
