Beulah Smith Richardson, 80, of Gaffney, South Carolina, died, Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at her residence.

She was born in Peoples, Ohio, and was a daughter of the late Rev. Carl Smith and Edna Marie Peeno Smith.

Mrs. Richardson was a retired teacher, working with the head start program in Illinois. She was a homemaker and was active in senior centers of Cherokee County. She was a member of Park Hills Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Richardson was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Ronald O Richardson in 2005; a brother, Carl Smith Jr., and a granddaughter, Angela Fitzpatrick.

Surviving are three sons, Ronald D. Richardson and his wife, Debbie of Concord, N.C., Jeffrey Richardson and his wife, Mara, of Gaffney, and John Mark Richardson and his wife, Linda, of Gaffney; two daughters, Sharon Fitzpatrick and her husband, Tim, of Huntington, W.Va., and Donna Taylor and her husband, Tom, of Springfield, Mo; fours sisters, Emma Jean Horner of Shelbyville, Ind., Edith Arritt and her husband, Ronald, thel Smith, and Dorothy Bowen and her husband, Ted, all of Covington; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George Roberts officiating, assisted by the Rev. William M. Hartsfield. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour prior to service at Arritt Funeral Home.
