On Saturday, June 8, the Clifton Forge Little League hosted their 4th Annual Car Show intended to raise funds for the Alleghany Highlands Family Emergency Relief Fund. The fund is designed to assist families during their time of need but can also be used by individuals. It was designed to cover needs as small as gas vouchers, or bigger ones such as electric or water bills.
Chris Rohr, vice president, and communications officer of the Clifton Forge Little League, said the fundraiser collected $1,000 this year for the Alleghany Highlands Family Emergency Relief Fund. There was $228 in total for the 50/50 drawing, however, when Doug Bowen came to collect his share of $114, he donated the entire amount back to the cause. The remaining monies were raised from entry fees and the food truck on site in the Mountain Gateway front parking lot where next year’s Car Show is expected to take place.
Forty-two vehicles registered for the show and the top ten in the show, in no particular order were: James R. Bush, R.L. Floyd, Mickey Floyd, Robert Floyd IV, Heather Simmons, Donald Tucker, Ronald Martin, Elmer & Debby West, Mike Simmons, and Mack & Liz Higgins. The showstopper award went to Donald Tucker.
