Wanda Jean Hayslett Irvine, age 92, of 200 Patricia Drive, Covington, Virginia died Sunday, May 31, 2020 at her residence. 
She was born on July 5, 1927 in Selma, Virginia to the late Benjamin Hayslett, Sr. and Gertrude Ayers Hayslett.  
She was a homemaker throughout her life and was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Selma and where she was a previous Sunday school teacher and an active member of the women of the church.  She was also a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church.  She loved gardening, cooking for her family, collecting dolls, shopping for jewelry and decorating for the holiday seasons.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters and a great granddaughter, Nikki Mills. 
She is survived by her husband, Carl Edward Irvine of Covington; two daughters, Gwen Vess-Whitmore and husband Kenneth of Covington and Carla Irvine Mills and husband George F. Mills III of Chester; four grandchildren, Benjamin Carlton Vess and wife Kay, Tomalei Jeanine Vess, Matthew Carlton Mills, Justin Caleb Mills; two great grandchildren, Dylan Wade Vess and Draven Quinn Whitmore; and a number of nieces and nephews. 
A private funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 with Reverend Bill Gilliland and Reverend Jim Moss officiating. Entombment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor.
Nicely Funeral Home,  Clifton Forge is handling arrangements.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Epworth United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 190, Selma, VA  24474, Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA  24422, or to The American Cancer Society.
