Mary Ellen Fridley Clarkson, 91, of Waiteville, WV., passed peacefully on April 10, 2020.
She was born March 7, 1929 in Low Moor to the late Joseph Nelson Fridley and Hattie Virginia Painter Fridley Hellems
Other than her parents she preceded in death by her infant son Earl Ray Clarkson, a half-sister Carrie Fridley Dawe, her brother Robert Nelson Fridley and other relatives
A wonderful moral example to her children and others. A born-again Christian, member of the Waiteville Christian Church.
Surviving are eight children Jean Rock and husband Melvin of Waiteville, Roland Clarkson Jr. of New Castle, Joseph Wayne Clarkson and his wife Linda Of Roanoke, Allen Clarkson and friend Phyllis of Waiteville, Dana Rock and husband Terry of Kernersville, NC, Clara Surface and Husband Bruce of Waiteville, Mary Katherine Meadows and husband Gale of Paint Bank and Marie Clarkson of Waiteville. Also surviving are 15 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great Great Grand Children, one sister Margaret Irene Clarkson of Paint Bank, one sister in law Ruth Custer and Randy of Salem and number of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
In keeping with the guidelines of the current pandemic crisis, a Private Graveside services will be held Tuesday April 14, 2020 at Waiteville Cemetery, Waiteville WV with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating.
Memorial contribution in Mrs. Clarkson’s name can be made to What Does the Bible Plainly Say P.O. Box 554 Vansant, VA 24656 or to the Waiteville Cemetery Fund in C/O Jean Rock 6306 Waiteville Rd, Waiteville, WV 24984.
Arrangements are being handle by Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Va.
