WestRock’s Alleghany Highlands Operations recently announced position changes that were internally announced October through December, 2018.
William “Tyson” Uzzell has accepted the position of process engineer in Recovery.
In this position he is responsible for day to day operations in the evaporator and kiln areas as well as outage planning in those areas.
Uzzell is a graduate of Alleghany High School and worked as a deputy sheriff for the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office from 2001-2004.
In 2004, he accepted the position of parole officer for the Covington Police De-partment. He joined the Covington mill in October, 2007, as an assistant on C8. In 2013, he accepted a position in the Recovery department.
Betty Wolfe has accepted the position of contractor safety administrator in the Safety department.
In this position she is responsible for contractor compliance.
Wolfe graduated summa cum laude from Dabney S. Lancaster Community College in 2003 with a career studies certificate in Word Processing. She worked through Manpower at the Covington mill beginning in 2003 as a data entry clerk and administrative assistant.
In 2012, Wolfe joined Olsen Engineering and continued to work at the mill as a data entry clerk and administrative assistant. Wolfe became a WestRock employee when she accepted the position of administrative assistant in the Engineering department in October 2014.
Phillip Wright has accepted the position of planner/ supervisor in Maintenance.
In this position he is responsible for scheduling and supervising daily and outage maintenance work.
Wright, a graduate of Covington High School, joined WestRock in 1992 on the Extra Board and transferred to the General Utilities department as a laborer later that year. He joined No. 6 Paper Machine shortly thereafter.
Wright completed the millwright apprenticeship in 2000 and was transferred to the Pulp Mill Mechanics as a maintenance journeyman millwright. In 2003, Wright transferred to Power maintenance and served as a maintenance journeyman millwright.
Zach Ward has accepted the position of planner/ supervisor on No.1 Paper Machine.
In this position he is responsible for planning and scheduling maintenance duties for No.1 Paper Machine.
Ward received his A.A.S in Computer Electronic Engineering Technology from ECPI Technical College in 2009, and his A.S. in General Studies from Virginia Western Community College in 2011.
Before joining WestRock, Ward worked as a switcher/ loader/unloader for FedEx Ground and as a service manager for FedEx Home Delivery. He accepted his first position at the mill as a vibration analyst in 2012.
During his time in this position, Ward acquired his level one and two thermography certificates, level one and two tribology certificates, and level one vibration analyst certificate. He assumed the position of planner on No.1 Paper Machine in June 2014.
In 2016, Ward joined Byers Inc. as a billing specialist, and was promoted to business manager in 2017.
Nathan Brown has accepted the position of water treatment engineer for Power.
In this position he is responsible for the supervision of raw water and filtered water treatment, DI units, boiler derations, SO2 scrubber, and mill air.
Brown received his degree in Pulp and Paper Technology from DSLCC in 1999, and a degree in IT/Net-working and Security Management from ECPI in 2005.
For the past 19 years, Brown has worked for Nalco.
Danny Baker has accepted the position of assistant maintenance superintendent.
In this position he is responsible for the continued development and growth of the GMS&S group, maintenance reliability, availability of tour maintenance, building and trades, and other grounds maintenance activities.
Baker earned his Associate of Science degree in Civil Engineering Technology from West Virginia Institute of Technology in 1980.
Baker went on to work for Brakenrich & Associates from 1976-1983. In 1983, he joined Clemetric Constructors at the Virginia Power Bath County pump storage project. In 1985, Baker was hired at WestRock as a maintenance supervisor.
Chandler Cline has accepted the position of planner/supervisor in Power.
In this position he is responsible for daily planning in the Power department.
Cline, a graduate from Greenbrier East High School, graduated from Mercer County Technical Education Center with a West Virginia HVAC technician license and a universal HVAC EPA card.
Cline joined C&C Construction & Development in 2009 as a foreman and went on to join H&M Electric & Construction as a HVAC technician in 2016.
Colton Harris has accepted the position of intermediate maintenance planner/ supervisor.
In this position he is responsible for the performance and reliability of all equipment and corresponding maintenance and repair work in Area I.
Harris, a graduate of Covington High School, received his Bachelor of Science in Forest Resources Management from Virginia Tech in 2017. Harris interned at the Covington mill during the summers of 2015 and 2016. In 2017, he joined Alleghany Wood Products as an export log yard manager.
Bobby Wickline has accepted the position of E&I reliability engineer-UPM and Woodyard.
In this position, he is responsible for reliability centered maintenance activities and projects.
Wickline graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Bluefield State College in 1988. In 1989, he joined Celanese as a senior reliability engineer until he joined BAE as a facilities E&I engineer in 2016.
