WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.V.a. – Professional golf is headed back to The Greenbrier for the first time in four years.

It was September of 2019 the last time The Greenbrier had a pro golf event which featured the PGA Tour’s Military Tribute at the Old White course.

This Friday, August 4th, at the Old White course LIV Golf will have their 10th event of the 2023 calendar year.

For those not too familiar to LIV Golf, the league was created back in 2021 and is financed by the Public Investment Fund, the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia.

Compared to the PGA Tour, LIV Golf is a bit different.

The format for LIV Golf is as follows:

12 teams going head-to-head all season.

 Features 48 golfers.

54 holes (each tournament has three rounds).

While there are teams, each golfer competes at an individual level. You do also compete for your team for points and prize money.

On Friday at The Greenbrier the LIV Golf event will feature 13 major champions competing including Brooks Koepka, Phil Mickelson, former Greenbrier resident Bubba Watson, along with the last Military Tribute Champion in 2019 Joaquin Niemann.

For more information on LIV Golf and their event at The Greenbrier this Friday and how you can purchase tickets, visit www.livgolf.com

Along with the pro golf event, the Zac Brown Band will also be performing for a special concert on Friday following the first-round play. You can find more information on the concert on the LIV website as well and how to get a ticket for the concert which is scheduled to take place at 6:00 p.m.
