RICHMOND — University of Richmond senior Tyler Dressler was named to the Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-American third team Wednesday afternoon.
Dressler, a 2017 Covington High School graduate, won first team All-Colonial Athletic Association honors last season.
He led the team with 104 tackles, ranking second in the CAA despite missing a game due to an injury. He led the CAA at 9.5 tackles per game, ranking 25th in the nation.
Dressler posted a career-high 20 tackles in the Spiders’ win at nationally ranked Maine, the most tackles in a game by any player in the FCS in 2019.
The 2020 Richmond football season was postponed due to COVID-19. The Spiders are hoping to play in the spring of 2021.
The NCAA has assured all athletes an additional year of eligibility regardless of the results of the 2020-2021 athletic seasons.
Dressler was joined on the All-American third team by Richmond redshirt defensive end Kobie Turner.
