Mountain Gateway hires two new basketball coaches

Mountain Gateway Community College recently hired two new head coaches for the men’s and women’s basketball programs.

Per the MGCC official website, William Yarborough comes to MGCC from Averett University where he was lead assistant and head of recruiting. He is from Franklinton, North Carolina and played his college basketball at North Carolina Wesleyan College from 2010-2013.

Yarborough’s head coaching experience comes from Vance Charter High School (2016), Crossroads Christian (2014-15) and middle school girls’ teams (2013-14). He also served as an AAU coach for the Royal Knights from 2012-2016.

Roy Redmon was tabbed as the new head coach for the women’s team. He was born and raised in Alleghany County and is an alum of Alleghany High School (1990). Redmon’s coaching experience include Clifton Middle School and Covington High School where he was both a JV and varsity coach for the girls’ teams.
