COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – On April 27, the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office was conducting an online investigation into certain crimes directed at children when a 52-year-old male agreed to meet with an underaged child for inappropriate activities. When the male arrived at an agreed upon location, he was taken into custody by Alleghany County deputies and officers from the Covington Police Department.
Arrested was David Wayne Persinger of Covington. He was taken before a magistrate and was able to post bond.
He was charged with 18.2-374.3 – Use of communication device to facilitate certain offenses against minors.
The Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office is dedicated to keeping the youth of the Alleghany Highlands safe, the department said in a statement.
