Mr. Philip Alan Cartwright, 73, of Covington, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, at Parham Hospital, Richmond.
He was the husband of Debra Bowles Cartwright.
Mr. Cartwright was born April 4, 1947, in Nicholas County, W.Va., the son of the late Alvis Dane Cartwright and Evelyn Newell Cartwright.
He was employed as a police officer by the City of Covington, retiring in 2000 after 19 years of service.
Philip was a member of Good News Church.
He was an avid hunter, enjoyed watching NASCAR and loved to cheer for his favorite teams, the Miami Dolphins and Washington Redskins.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather, Philip enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife Debra, Mr. Cartwright is survived by three daughters, Mischelle C. Napier (Ronnie), Melissa C. Smith (John) and Melinda Cartwright; a stepson, Dustin Bowles (Hunter); 10 grandchildren, Brittany Dressler, Nicholas Napier, Laura Young, Caitlin Cash, Brandon Wright, Kaiya Bowles, Keira Bowles, Ethan Bowles, Kacen Bowles and Kodei Bowles; nine great-grandchildren, Rylee, Emma, Layken, Greyson, Sawyer, Carper, Brady, Penelope and Jeremiah; special niece, Hazel, who called him “Uncle PawPaw”; and beloved fur babies, Harleigh, Reagan, Darby and Lucy.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at Good News Church with Pastor Steve Noel officiating.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Good News Church, 214 S. Lexington Avenue, Covington, Va. 24426.
