The Woodlands Health & Rehab at 1000 Fairview Ave. in Clifton Forge celebrated its 20th anniversary of ownership by Commonwealth Care of Roanoke, Inc. (CCR), on Fri., Oct. 14.
The facility was built in 1987, and it operated as Shenandoah Manor till Deborah L. Petrine of Roanoke purchased it in 2002.
Petrine’s company, CCR, owns 11 other long-term-care facilities in Va.
Prior to COVID-19, The Woodlands’ Annual Cakewalk was held, and Angie Baldwin, director of The Woodlands, discontinued the event because of the pandemic.
Baldwin remarked, “I’ve been here since 1996 as the director, and the event was held each year before COVID-19.”
The celebration was for 20 years of ownership by CCR, and it included the Woodlands’ Annual Cakewalk, raffles, door prizes and concessions.
Kristen Hoke, director of activities, noted in a press release, “Businesses from the community have graciously provided gift certificates, a TV and more.”
Friday, Oct. 14, was the opening day of the Clifton Forge Shrine Club’s 51st Fall Foliage Festival, and the celebration that included a Ribbon Cutting for CCR’s 20 years of ownership contributed to the festive mood in Clifton Forge.
The celebration raised funds for the residents, and 100% of the proceeds will be used for special events for the residents, events such as Christmas.
