Alleghany High School will host orientation for incoming freshmen on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022, from 4 to 6 p.m.

During orientation students will receive class schedules and Chromebooks. They will also learn about extracurricular activities at AHS.

Students will receive their class schedules in the lobby upon arrival for orientation. The schedules will be distributed by counselors who will be stationed at tables.

Chromebooks will be distributed in the school library on the second floor. Students will receive Chromebooks and be educated on the care of their Chromebooks by signing a document indicating the consequences of breakage — no fee will be collected. Members of the AHS faculty and staff will be available in the library to address questions or concerns parents may have. Any parent or guardian that needs Chromebook training can receive the training in Lab 214 outside the library throughout the event on a drop-in basis.

Athletic coaches and activity club sponsors will be stationed in the gym to inform students and parents about extracurricular offerings. Students will be encouraged to participate in the various clubs and activities AHS offers throughout the school year.

Information on the school dress code will also be provided during orientation. The dress code will be explained in a video that will be displayed on an interactive whiteboard.

Alleghany Highlands Public Schools will open for the 2022-2023 academic year on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022.

For more information about the Aug. 11 freshmen orientation at Alleghany High School, call (540) 863-1700.
