The Clifton Forge Fire Department, 701 Church Street, and the Clifton Forge
Volunteer Rescue Squad, 1610 Hickory Avenue, will be open as emergency shelters
from Monday, March 16, through Tuesday March 17 due to the forecasted severe
weather.

These shelters are open for anyone that needs shelter from the weather. The shelters
are not solely for the Town of Clifton Forge residents. “I strongly encourage anyone
that lives inside or outside of the Town of Clifton Forge, whether it be Bath,
Botetourt, Craig, or Rockbridge Counties, or surrounding areas to come to either of
these locations shelter.”

If anyone needs assistance getting to one of these locations, contact the Alleghany
County Sheriff’s Office at 540-965-1770 ext. 0.

Barry S. Balser
Chief of Police
Director of Emergency Services
