Harry Milton Holmes, Jr.
Harry Milton Holmes, Jr., a loving, kind-hearted and gentle soul, was born in Washington, DC, on March 29, 1965. At the age of 60, he returned home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
Harry Jr. was the first-born son, of Harry Milton Holmes, Sr. and Geraldine Holmes. A gifted athlete, during his junior and high school years, Harry was well known for his athletic ability in both football and track. Harry graduated from Greenbrier East High School in 1983 and later attended Fairmont State University. He then went on to become a 25+ year beloved staff member of the Marriott Town Center Hotel in Charleston, WV. After a later life-long battle with diabetes, and to be closer to family, he moved and resided in Fairlea, WV, at the Seneca Trail Health Center, where he was loved by all who helped care for him.
Harry was preceded in death by his loving mother, Geraldine; maternal grandparents, Sebastian and Margaret Strawbridge; and paternal grandparents, Ralph Reynolds and Lauretta Green.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his siblings, sister and brother-in-law, Michelle and Roger (Chubby) Patterson, White Sulphur Springs, WV/Covington, VA; brothers, Norbert Holmes, White Sulphur Springs, WV, Kevin (Charlise) Holmes, Sherman Oaks, CA, and Robert Holmes, Covington, VA; nieces/nephews, Breonna Patterson, Nathaniel (Liah) Holmes, Arishia, Tobias, Ayannah, Hayden, Elias, Anya Holmes, Tanesha and Derrick Patterson and family; and uncle, Jonathan Green.
A homegoing funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 142 Church Street, White Sulphur Springs, WV, with Pastors Greg Scott and Dante Shehan officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior (1:00 p.m.) to the service.
