COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – Curtis A Smith VFW Post 1033 Auxiliary delivered valentine gift bags to our four area nursing home veterans to thank them for their service to our country.   VFW Post 1033 takes every opportunity available to let our area veterans know they are never forgotten.

We want to recognize the Activity Directors at these nursing homes and thank them for all they do for our veterans:

Brian Center – Dawn Burke, Activity Director and Madison Holt, Activities Assistant

Alleghany Health & Rehab – Lisa Horton, Activities Director

Highland House – Shantay Rutland, Activities Director and Ashley Thompson RMA

The Woodlands Health & Rehab – Emily Loren Luchtenberg, Activities Director and Pamela Crouse, Assistant Activities Director

We would also like to take the opportunity to thank our community for their continued support of our veteran projects.   May 23, 2026, will be Kars Unlimited Veterans in the Park.   Please come out and support this event.  There will be a short program at 12:00 PM to honor all branches of the service.

If there is anyone who needs veteran information or assistance, please reach out to a VFW Post 1033 comrade or auxiliary member.  marianpaxton@gmail.com or 843-653-6098
