COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – What began as a solution to pandemic-era challenges has blossomed into a flourishing business brightening homes and offices across the Alleghany Highlands. Peachy Clean, the brainchild of owner Ashley Seldomridge, offers a refreshing reminder that necessity, flexibility, and heartfelt service are often the cornerstones of small business success.

Founded in June 2021, Peachy Clean was born of personal need during the COVID-19 pandemic, when remote learning prompted Seldomridge to seek a path that blended work and family. “At the time, my children were still doing virtual school because it was during Covid, and I wanted to find something that was going to be flexible for me to be with my kids,” Seldomridge recalled. “I started cleaning a couple houses, and it really took off from there.”

That modest beginning swiftly turned into a thriving local enterprise. Today, Peachy Clean manages about seventy residential homes each month, and its eight-person team also tackles commercial sites, churches, office spaces, and multiple Airbnbs throughout the region. Seldomridge attributes the rapid growth to identifying a much-needed local service.

“I found out really quickly there was a demand in our area for this type of service. I took a chance, dove all in, and went for it,” she said.

Peachy Clean, headquartered in Covington, serves a broad area, including Alleghany, Bath, Rockbridge, and Botetourt counties, and stretches as far as Roanoke. Staff are organized into small crews, dispatched according to the day’s schedule and client needs.

“I send out multiple crews during the day; it could be a crew of one, two, or three people together, and they service what houses are on the schedule,” Seldomridge explained.

Every job is tailored to the customer, whether it’s a full-home deep clean or a recurring service focused on specific chores.

“I always go out and quote each property,” she said. “Not everybody wants the exact same thing…If you want us to just do your bathrooms every month or only your floors weekly, that’s what we’ll do. We really want to tailor to the client’s needs.”

This focus on customization sets Peachy Clean apart in a crowded field. Regular services include detailed bathroom and kitchen cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and even cleaning exterior door glass. For deep cleans, the team tackles ceiling fans, light fixtures, baseboards, and windows.

All cleaning supplies and equipment are provided unless clients prefer something particular. Trusted, tried-and-true products are preferred, with Pine-Sol often making an appearance.

Seldomridge credits her supportive team and community for the company’s longevity and positive reputation. “I’m the most proud of my entire support system in building this business up. A big percentage of that is my employees. They are by far the backbone of my business,” she said. Her family has also pitched in during busy times, from her children to her father and boyfriend, pitching in to clean properties and supporting her success.

Seldomridge notes that growth is always needed when running a business, but how you respond matters most. “We are always learning what can be done better or different to make our clients’ experience stand out,” she said. Over time, Peachy Clean’s reputation has grown as the community has recognized her team’s commitment to service and integrity.

The business name itself arose from a quest for something edgy but clear.

“I wanted something that was catchy and short,” she said, describing how a friend designed the logo that helped cement Peachy Clean’s identity.

Most clients schedule bi-weekly service, though arrangements are flexible. The company communicates with clients, however they prefer, by phone, text, email, or even Facebook messenger.

Ashley expressed heartfelt thanks for the community’s trust.

“We’re just really thankful that everyone in the community, from our residential clients to our commercial clients, gave us an opportunity to showcase our talents,” she said.

As Peachy Clean continues to shine, Ashley remains focused on the people at the heart of her business, her team, her family, and her clients. In a world that often feels impersonal, Peachy Clean proves that a great business is built not just on clean surfaces, but on genuine human connections. One sparkling room at a time, Ashley Seldomridge and her team are transforming more than just homes; they’re nurturing a community.
