SALEM, Va. (VR) – Alleghany turned in a strong showing Saturday at the East Coast Elite Pajama Invitational at Roanoke College, winning five events and posting multiple season-best and personal-best performances.

Ja’Kara Heighter led the way individually with a personal-best 7.47 to win the 55-meter dash, while Maddox Wickline claimed the 300-meter dash in a personal-best 37.13. Kiera Lowman added a victory in the 1,600-meter run, clocking 5:19.50 to rank 34th in Virginia, and Elin Heck captured the high jump with a season-best clearance of 4 feet, 9 inches.

The Cougars also earned a win in the 4×400-meter relay as Miles Christian, Evan Bishop, Brycen Griffith and Wickline combined for a season-best time of 3:34.90, the 20th-fastest mark in the state this year.

Christian added a second-place finish in the 300-meter dash with a personal-best 37.33, and Lowman placed third in the 1,000-meter run, posting a season-best 3:10.49, currently No. 40 in Virginia.
